1. Will adding aftermarket parts to my motorcycle void my factory warranty?

Many customers ask us this question and the short answer is no. Dealers of new motorcycles sometimes try to scare customers by telling them that if they change their exhaust or rejet their bike that they will void the factory warranty. This is nothing more than a tactic to keep you locked into them for all parts purchases and service work.

The Moss Magnusun Act US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))
If your vehicle dealer fails to honor warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov.

2. Do I need to rejet my motorcycle if I change the exhaust?

There is no definite answer to this question. If you are just changing the stock exhaust to a free flowing aftermarket exhaust, many times you don't have to rejet. That being said, many motorcycles come from the factory with a lean air/fuel mixture and do benefit from rejetting. We recommend that you buy a jet kit with your exhaust system.

If after you install the exhaust you have poor throttle response, backfiring or excessive heat go ahead and install the jet kit. If you install the exhaust system and are satisfied with the results, you can return the jet kit as long as it hasn't been used.

If your motorcycle is fuel injected you will need to remap your fuel system. This can be accomplished with either a Dynojet Power Commander or a Cobra FI2000 Tripot Fuel Processor. One or both may be available for your particular application.

3. Do I need to rejet or remap my fuel system if I add a high performance air intake?

If you add a Kuryakyn Hypercharger, a Thunder Mfg. air intake or any free flowing air filter to your motorcycle, you will need to take further action. If your motorcycle is carbureted you will need to rejet. Most air kits come with larger main jets but not complete jet kits. You can purchase a jet kit separately if you want to take advantage of the Dynojet needle which has a finer taper and will give you better throttle response.

If your motorcycle is fuel injected you will need to remap your fuel system. This can be accomplished with either a Dynojet Power Commander or a Cobra FI2000 Tripot Fuel Processor. Look in the Engine/Performance category for your model for pricing. One or both may be available for your particular application.

In either case since you are adding significantly more air to your air/fuel mixture with these kits, adding more fuel is required. Not rejetting or remapping your air/fuel mixture could result in excessive heat buildup, causing significant damage to your motorcycle.

4. Why is my order status"Backordered "?

Even though we try to keep all popular items in stock, from time to time we need to order parts from one of our distributors. Sometimes our distributors are out of inventory and we have no choice but to wait for the item to be in stock. We will contact you within 24 hours if any part of your order is backordered. At that time we will give you an ETA (estimated time of arrival). Please keep in mind that this is just an estimate. Sometimes the product can arrive sooner, sometimes it could arrive later.

We know how frustrating this can be so we will be happy to give you updates on your order via email or by calling toll free 800-520-8525 for as long as your order is backordered. Even if you don't contact us for updates, we are constantly monitoring backorders to ensure your wait is as short as possible.

If while your order is in backordered status you find it in stock from another dealer, you can cancel your order without penalty, as long as the item is not in transit. Most times all dealers will be in the same position since backorders are on a national scale.
